This page is for supervisors and training managers who buy exam preparation for pressure vessel inspectors. Long Seam prepares one person at a time for the API 510 exam. A crew order is the same course bought for several people, quoted and invoiced by hand.
Check eligibility before buying seats
API 510 certification starts with qualifying education and work experience. API's qualification page sets the minimum combinations, and each person must document their own vessel work. Check eligibility for each inspector before you buy a seat, because preparation does not change what API requires. Our requirements and cost guide walks through the routes and a full certification budget.
The exam has a closed-book part and an open-book part, and the open-book part allows only the code sections on the effectivity sheet for that exam window. Each person needs their own licensed copies of the listed publications. Long Seam does not provide code text. See the effectivity sheet guide and the exam schedule and fees guide when you plan a window.
What each seat gets
A seat is one person's access to the course. It includes:
- A question bank with each answer key checked by an independent second solve
- Timed practice exams
- A lesson for each domain in the published API 510 Body of Knowledge
- A study plan built from the person's exam date
Each inspector can try the free 10-question check first. It shows a score by domain without signing up, so a supervisor can see where study time is needed before paying for seats.
How quotes and invoices work
The crew prices below are per seat. The price depends on crew size: one rate for 3 to 9 seats and a lower rate for 10 or more. The table shows the exact figures.
- Send the form. Give us your name, work email, company and the number of seats.
- Get a quote by email. A person at Long Seam replies with a quote.
- Pay by invoice. We invoice by hand. There is no checkout for crew orders.
Crew orders are handled by email. We do not offer seat assignment, a roster or a team dashboard. Each person works through their own course, and you track progress in your own crew plan.
Common questions
Can I see how my inspectors are doing?
Not in one place. Long Seam has no team dashboard. Ask each inspector to share their free-check score and study-plan progress, and record it in your training file.
Can I pay for one inspector without a quote?
Yes. A single course is a one-time payment on the course page. If your employer is paying, tick "My employer is paying" at checkout and we email a receipt you can expense. The terms cover refunds for individual purchases.
Does the course qualify an inspector to work on vessels?
No. Long Seam is exam preparation only. API sets the certification requirements, and your employer and jurisdiction decide who may inspect which equipment.
